Trips for International Experience (TIE)
The TIE programme aims to support schools in designing internationalisation experiences that align with the refreshed objectives, focusing on destinations in Asia, particularly in ASEAN countries, China and India Develop in our students the 21CC of global awareness and cross-cultural skills and sensitivities.
The TIE programme is designed for internationalisation experiences in alignment with MOE’s Learn for Life movement and Future of Learning vision. These experiences can enhance students’ development of Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC), specifically in global and cross-cultural literacy.
The objectives of the TIE programme are to:
a. Deepen in our students the Emerging 21st Century Competencies (E21CC) of civic, global, and cross-cultural literacy;
b. Expose students to Asia with a greater focus on ASEAN countries, China and India, and cultivate an appreciation of the region’s cultures, growing economic opportunities and dynamism; and
c. Develop students’ awareness of our contemporary realities, to strengthen their confidence and commitment to Singapore.
Since 2024, the school has organised overseas trips to Vietnam for selected P5 students. The choice of Vietnam as the TIE destination country for GSPS TIE include the following:
1. Historical, Cultural and Economic Significance
2. Relevance to P5 Social Studies that include topics like ASEAN and UNESCO Heritage Sites.
To achieve the objectives of the programme, TIE trips typically include the following: tour to historical sites, visit to a partner school, visit to agricultural villages, watch cultural performances, learn local crafts and experience local cuisine.
